Huawei aims to make passenger cars driverless by 2025

2021-06-11

The Huawei Smart Car team aims to make passenger cars truly driverless by 2025, Wang Jun, president of Huawei Smart Car Solutions BU, said at the 13th China Auto Blue Book Forum on June 10.

"We have a goal when we build this system, which is to truly realize unmanned driving of passenger cars," Wang said.
Driverless is a disruptive technology, and our team's goal is to make passenger cars truly driverless by 2025."

When asked what the extension of a car is, Wang Jun said that before 2025, the connotation of a car is still a car first, but now the car does have many denotations, the first denotation is whether it can become a mobile intelligent space.

Mr Wang said Huawei's goal was to transform the car through the disruptive technology of intelligent driving, and eventually make it a mobile smart space.
Secondly, after the intelligent driving subverts the car, the biggest change is the intelligent cockpit. The core of the intelligent cockpit is the application, and the most important point of the application is the ecology.

Wang Jun said that the core of Huawei's Harmony operating system is still ecology. "Ecology must not be fragmented, it must not belong to a certain car company, it must belong to everyone.
Fragmentation is not an ecosystem, it's a proprietary protocol.
Therefore, whether we can form a strong ecosystem in the mobile intelligent space in China in the next decade needs the entire industry to work together around this goal."
