Porsche has decided to develop its own high-performance battery in order to achieve its goal of being carbon neutral by 2030

Under the previous plan, Porsche aimed to be carbon neutral by 2030, and one of the key measures it will take to achieve this goal is to expand sales of all-electric cars.Porsche estimates that by 2030, more than 80 per cent of its sales will be electric and the rest will be made up of the 911, which will be Porsche's last stand on the internal combustion engine.
For electric vehicles, the key factor in performance is battery technology.Porsche said last week that it was not just relying on external suppliers for power batteries, but that it planned to develop its own high-performance batteries.
Porsche is currently working on a battery that uses silicon instead of an anode, a design that, according to the company, will allow the battery to operate at temperatures above 75 degrees Celsius.Such battery performance, Porsche says, would allow batteries with higher energy densities to be better able to charge quickly.
Porsche will use the batteries in high-performance electric racing cars before they are introduced into production in the future, but not until 2025.
