Lamborghini releases electric development plan
On the afternoon of May 18, Lamborghini announced its electric development plan "Direzione Cor Tauri".
"Direzione Cor Tauri" is Latin for "Go to the heart of Taurus".
Echoing the brand logo adopted by company founder Ferrucio Lamborghini in 1963, Cor Tauri is the brightest star in the constellation of Taurus, representing Lamborghini's move toward an electric future while remaining true to the heart and soul of the brand, Lamborghini said.
"In terms of electrification, Lamborghini always adheres to the principle of 'not competing for first, only doing the best'."
Lamborghini Automobile Corporation Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that Lamborghini is now moving forward with the second phase of its Cor Tauri development program. "Once we start the hybrid process, we will move quickly," he said.
The Cor Tauri development programme is divided into three phases, the first of which is the celebration of internal combustion engines (2021-2022).
This phase was characterized by the continued development of models with internal combustion engines that paid homage to the brand's history and existing iconic products.
It is reported that two new models with V12 engines will be unveiled this year.
The second phase is the transition to hybrid power.
Lamborghini has announced that it will launch its first hybrid production model in 2023.
All Lamborghini product lines will be electric by the end of 2024.
At this stage, Lamborghini's internal target is to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 50% by early 2025.
At the press conference, Lamborghini also announced the largest investment in the brand's history, that is, Lamborghini will spend more than 1.5 billion euros in four years to promote the transition to hybrid.
"Hybrid is not the end of Lamborghini's product planning."
Stephan announced that in the third phase, Lamborghini plans to launch an all-electric Lamborghini model between 2025 and 2030, Lamborghini's fourth product line.
Cor Tauri's transformation plan is not only at the product level, but also at the overall plan from the product to the headquarters in Santa Agata Bologny, and from the production line to the office.
Stephan said the Santa Agata Polony headquarters plant became carbon neutral as early as 2015, and remains so after doubling the size of its production base in recent years.
