2022-05-18

On May 17, the R&D center of GAC AION, the NEV-dedicated arm of GAC Group, officially moved into a new building, indicating the NEV maker is speeding up the independent development that integrates research, production, and sales, GAC AION announced via its WeChat account.

The latest move came after GAC Group completed a significant internal restructuring on November 29, 2021, which made GAC AION take over the R&D staff of GAC R&D Center's all-electric unit.

Currently, GAC AION's R&D center houses over 600 talents, and expects to increase the number to nearly 1,000 by the end of this year.

GAC AION has developed innovative technologies and products in both EV and ICV domains. Regarding the EV field, the automaker has launched the magazine battery, A480 fast charger, and the battery using sponge silicon anode, which redefined the standards of NEV safety, charging, and range, said the company. Besides, its BEV-dedicated platform has already evolved into the third generation.

In respect to the ICV area, the company noted its ADiGO intelligent-connected driving system features the functions like remote parking, car summon, city NDA (Navigational Driving Assist), and enables rapid upgrades of smart cockpit technologies.
